Why everyone keeps coming back.

A Train Cafe in Wallingford, CT, is a charming and cozy spot that brilliantly combines the best of cafe culture with authentic Italian-inspired pizza and fresh, vibrant salads. Situated conveniently on N Colony Rd, this inviting eatery is a hidden gem that truly feels like stepping into a beloved local gathering place.

Specializing in a delightful mix of cuisines, A Train Cafe offers a menu that boasts standout specialty pizzas such as the Napoletana, Piccante, Carnivore, Gustoso, and the fresh and colorful Verdura. Each pie is crafted with care, featuring thin, flavorful crusts that are as delicate as they are satisfying. The pizza is a sensory delight—crisp edges, aromatic garlic-infused cheese, and perfectly balanced toppings that evoke the comforting warmth of homemade Italian cooking.

But the experience is far from limited to pizza alone. The menu’s array of refreshing salads—including the classic Horiatiki, rich Gravlax, and vibrant Nicoise—offer a perfect complement to the robust flavors of their pizzas. Each dish bursts with freshness and boldness, evident in the crisp veggies, luscious dressings, and expertly prepared proteins.

Walking into A Train Cafe is like entering a welcoming embrace. The atmosphere is intimate and clean, decorated with beautiful artwork that adds to the warmth and charm of the space. Customers consistently remark on the genuine hospitality—they are greeted with friendly smiles and attentive service that makes every visit feel personal. It’s a place you'll want to savor every bite and linger over coffee or a casual chat.

Customer testimonials speak volumes about the authenticity and quality here. JT Traverso enthusiastically recalls the intoxicating kitchen aromas and generous portions that instantly made the cafe a go-to spot. AJ Colella loves the balance of terrific flavor and value, along with the enjoyable daily specials that keep repeat visits exciting. Neva Slattery highlights the exceptional soups and sandwiches, calling the chicken ditalini soup better than her own home recipe! And Michael Lombardi can’t get over the flavorful, thin-crusted pizzas that are “the thinnest [he’s] ever had.”

Whether you’re stopping by for a quick takeout slice, enjoying a leisurely lunch, or meeting friends over coffee and salad, A Train Cafe offers an authentic, heartwarming dining experience that feels both familiar and delightful. This Wallingford treasure is more than just a place to eat—it’s a community hub filled with genuine care and culinary passion. Stumbled upon “A Train Cafe” this morning and it was a gem! The wife greeted us with a warm smile, and the kitchen aromas were intoxicating. Portions were generous, the place was spotless, and the food? On point! It tasted like authentic homemade goodness, straight from grandma's kitchen. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

I LOVE this spot, period. I’ve tried several breakfast and lunch options here now and each meal was fantastic. You get a great portion for the price, it tastes amazing, and the cafe itself has a lovely atmosphere. There’s a couple specials to choose from every day so even if you’re a creature of habit like me you’ll be inclined to try something a little new. As a commuter on the Hartford line train (which is conveniently located right next door to the cafe), I would sincerely wake up 15 minutes earlier before work if it meant getting to start my day with a treat from here. Service is always pleasant, Andrea is a delight, 10/10 no notes. You’d be crazy not to visit at least once. A Train is gonna be a local gem for sure : )

Great little spot. I got a plain cheese pizza and Caesar w chicken both VERY good. I was very happy with the pizza. Thinnest pizza I’ve ever had and full of flavor and great crust. FYI, there is garlic on the plain cheese. I will be back to try some bagels. 100% recommend
